Gladness

Psalm 30:10-12

11-22-2009

Ps 30:10 Hear, O LORD, and be merciful to me; O LORD, be my help.” 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

Take a moment and reflect, have you reason to rejoice in the Lord? Meditate on your life and consider all that the Lord has done, is doing and will do for you in life. Is there reason, strong reason to rejoice, praise, and honor Him? Does He give you life? Does He sustain you with good things? Does He graciously take away all you sins? Does He call you into the richness of His blessings?

Take a moment and reflect on just the past several days, is there any evidence of God’s hand working out things in your life? (share what He is doing)

Ac 2:46. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,  47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The early Church found ample reason to sing God’s praises and to share the wonders of His presence in their lives. The Israelites also found good reason to praise God because He also sustained them.

Just the special relationship that Israel held with God and He to them was worthy of praising Him. Even greater praise is due Him because of the words of love He gave to guide and protect their lives. (Deut 4:5-9, 39-40; 6:24-25) It is as true for the instruction you give your children as it is of God’s instruction for us, it is meant for blessing, for health, for prosperity and long life.

Jesus has called each of us into a relationship with God for our blessing not for torment and torture but rather He has saved us from just those things. This week as we enter into Thanksgiving take pause to reflect of  the Word of God, it’s direction for blessings in righteousness, and Jesus’ desire for the success of your journey in life.

Dt 32:46 (Moses)“Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law.  47 They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.” Take to heart that Jesus has taken away your sin and given you His Spirit- Rejoice. Ps.118:24
