“Jesus Now”

1Cor.15:25-28

10-4-2009

“For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet…. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.”

Whatever Jesus is now and whatever Jesus is doing now it is inclusive of His reigning on the throne of the Father and His laboring at putting His enemies under His feet. Whatever the scriptures says about God the Father and His power and His might, Jesus has because the Father gave it all to Him. (Jn.5:17ff; 10:28-30; Eph.1:19b-23)

Jesus – “I and the Father are one.” Jn.10:30

1Pet.3:21….Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand--with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

Jesus was with God before He became flesh and blood. (1Jn.1:1-2) He was sent to accomplish the purpose, the redemption of mankind. This He did do. (Rev.1:5, 5:9-10; Eph.3:10,11) [Need more? – Mat.20:28, 26:28; Acts 20:28; 1 Cor.6:20, 7:23; Eph.1:7; Col 1:14; Tit.2:14; 1Pet.1:18-19; 1Jn.2:2] This redemption Jesus continues to maintain for our behalf. (Heb.7:25)

What we know about Jesus and His goings on right now (since the end of all times has not yet taken place) is that He labors from the throne to subdue all things to the will of His Father. (and our Father) We also know that He continuously serves as high priest making intersession for our sins.

There are other things that can be known about what Jesus is doing even yet. He governs His Church that He is the head over. The Church that He commissioned Peter to begin the building of. (Mat.16:18ff) As the head He directs those who have responsibilities who are given assignments under him. (1Cor.12:28; Eph.1:22; Col.1:15-24)

From Jesus’ place in heaven he speaks and His voice is obeyed. The heavenly angels obey with absoluteness. The 24 Elders and the 12 apostles continue to do all that they are commanded. All the heavens and their inhabitance carry out His charge with finality whether in mercy or judgment. (Heb.12:22-24; Rev.4:4ff; 5:5ff; 7:13-17; 14:1-5; also chapter 19) You see, we serve the God of the living and His Son whose name is Jesus. (Mat.22:32; Mk.12:26-27; Lk.20:34-38)

There is far more to be said in an attempt to describe Jesus, not only in what and who He was, but what and who He is now and what it is He continues to do even yet. It is true that we serve and are witness to a Jesus who was awesome and is now Awesome beyond our feeble attempts to grasp.

HEB 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23 to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Amen! Come Lord Jesus!
